With the spring weather warming up, staff and clients gathered as a group in the centre’s new green-house to get their hands in the dirt by planting tomatoes and various other seeds. As the seasons changed, clients of all ages helped to water and harvest. Food sus-tainability in the North is an extremely important growing trend. As the pictures show, Northern communities can grow their own fresh produce throughout the spring to fall seasons. From chil-dren to adults, everyone enjoyed their time watering and harvesting the variety of food available. Clients stated that this was a good learning opportunity for them and their families, some hoping to return to their home communities to start their own gardens. Next spring the centre hopes to expand the variety of plants grown so that more families will be able to share in the joy of learning how to create their own fresh vegetables and fruit.
