Overview:
The Executive Director (ED) serves as the strategic and operational leader of the organization, driving its mission to uplift Indigenous communities through economic development, cultural preservation, and advocacy. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED ensures the organization remains rooted in Indigenous values while achieving sustainable growth and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement long-term strategies aligned with Indigenous worldviews and community priorities.
- Lead organizational planning, ensuring programs reflect cultural relevance and community needs.
- Foster innovation while honoring traditional knowledge systems.
- Governance & Board Relations
- Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors and the Treatment Director, providing transparent reporting and strategic counsel.
- Organize and facilitate board meetings, AGMs, and community consultations.
- Community Engagement & Advocacy
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities, Elders, youth, and knowledge keepers.
- Advocate for Indigenous rights, procurement policies, and equitable representation in industry and government.
- Operational & Financial Oversight
- Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with funding agreements and Indigenous governance protocols.
- Ensure efficient day-to-day operations and resource allocation.
- Partnerships & Fundraising
- Cultivate partnerships with government, industry, and philanthropic organizations.
- Lead fundraising efforts that respect Indigenous sovereignty and ethical funding practices.
- Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Recruit and mentor staff with a focus on Indigenous hiring and professional development.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and culturally affirming workplace.
 Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in Indigenous organizations or community-driven initiatives.
- Deep understanding of Indigenous governance, history, and cultural protocols.
- Strong financial and operational management skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and reconciliation frameworks.
Required Assets:
- Indigenous ancestry or lived experience within Indigenous communities.
- Fluency in an Indigenous language is preferred but not mandatory
- Experience and familiarity with Indigenous issues regarding addiction treatment and problems within society.
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
